Remember to compare gas mileage when you're doing the research to buy your next car. Choosing a vehicle with a good EPA mpg score will save you gas money too. And there are other benefits as well.

What is the first thing you normally look at when purchasing a motor car? Is it the car's safety features or the vehicle's color? Perhaps it is the sleek design, the sexy adverts on the TV or the good-looking ladies sitting in the car at the automobile show... These care sales are based on emotion.

Then, all good looks aside, how do you value the practical features of that automobile? You'd note the number of doors, how many seats and passengers that can fit inside. How comfortable the car is to drive. Does it fit in your garage? What does it cost to insure? And then, what about any kids, spouse, your dog, and maybe shopping bags and sometimes suitcases?

They have to fit inside as well.

And then what safety devices have been fitted to the vehicle, such as passenger and side air bags and/or an ABS anti-lock braking system?

All of these points are good ones, and they are certainly important to consider when deciding on your motor car. But nowadays you also need to think about which cars have the highest mpg rating? What is going to save you gas? You need to compare gas mileage between cars before or above anything else.

There are plenty of reasons why its important to own an automobile which does more miles per gallon.

Higher-mpg cars save gas. It's that simple. The standard North American middle-size automobile delivers somewhere between 21 to 27 miles per gallon, which is pretty-acceptable fuel consumption. A standard-sized American SUV will get you somewhere between 13 to 16 mpg.

Compare the two, and you can see you'd be shelling out far more if you owned the car with a heavier fuel consumption!

Even if both vehicles cost the same to buy and drove the same number of miles, then you would save about 40 per cent in gas costs, just from getting more mpg. That's averaging both sets of figures.

Higher-mpg vehicles save money on fuel expenses. Make sure you compare gas mileage before you buy a new vehicle, and you are set to save some serious gasoline money!

And if you blend this gas saving with another way to save fuel consumption, such as beginning a car pool to get to work or your children s school, then your savings tote up even more.

If you are out to get a new car or you're seeking to save money on gas, it pays to compare gas mileage.
